December 2021 | A newsletter for the HR/payroll professional
In Release 61SP3, Default Tax Slip Distribution was updated in response to customer feedback. This update required a reset of all Pay Group level Default Tax Slip Distribution selections to be Online for all Active Employees. This means, unless changed by an employer after the December release, Active employees will access tax slips online, while Inactive and Terminated employees will be issued paper tax slips.
Please see the 61 SP3 Release notes for more details or refer to the customer communication entitled “Dayforce Canada – 2021 Tax Slip Distribution Reset to Online”, sent via email in mid-December.
The 2021 Dayforce Canada Year End Customer Guide provides valuable information to make your year-end a success. Content includes a monthly detailed checklist, important dates, deadlines, year-end processing instructions for Dayforce, as well as Federal and Provincial legislative requirements.

Did you know that you can review errors in Year End at any time throughout the year? Go to Year End > Canada Year End > Export Problems. An Excel spreadsheet will open that displays all Warnings and Errors.

New in 61 SP3 in mid-December
Dayforce will automatically create an off-cycle pay run when any employees make an ODP request after the last scheduled pay run of the year but prior to the last day of the year. Any system generated off-cycle pay run that is still open at 9 a.m. ET on the 1st day of the new year will auto commit. To support the year close out, funds for all on-demand payments are collected when the off-cycle pay run is committed.
For more information and additional resources, see the Dayforce Wallet/On Demand Pay section of the Knowledge Base on the Support Portal.
December has several Statutory Holidays, and additional processing time will be required to ensure employees are paid on time. This means that you may need to commit pay several days in advance of your normal processing day. For more information about the processing deadlines, see the Upcoming Holiday Reminders at the end of this newsletter.
Dayforce Pay calendars are auto-generated each pay cycle on a rolling basis. Schedules must be reviewed and edited to ensure dates are correct for banking holidays for 2021 and 2022.
Although Dayforce automatically generates pay periods on a rolling basis, the application does not automatically generate client specific holidays used in the WFM timesheets for the upcoming year. Follow the steps in these Knowledge Base articles on the Ceridian Support Portal to update your upcoming holidays:
